What have you learned during the course of the project?
While canvassing neighborhoods I saw Black history, Ukrainian history, Catholic history. I saw Mexican pride, Puerto Rican pride, Ukrainian pride. I saw support for unions, support for veterans, support for the LGBTQ+ community. It was enlightening to see the diversity of religious expressions and diverse faith traditions, as someone who was only familiar with Roman Catholic churches in Chicago before working on this project.
If you were to design your own research project, what would you study and why?
I’m grateful and proud to have contributed to this project through data collection. Based on my experience, I would love to conduct my own research in Chicago studying what motivates people to mobilize towards conserving the environment or not.
What do you hope to do after you graduate from Notre Dame?
I plan to return to Chicago after serving in the Peace Corps to continue my education and continue doing research.
